Encyclopedia of Alabama Surpasses One Million Page Views

The state's free online reference resource, the Encyclopedia of Alabama, achieved a significant milestone by surpassing its one millionth page view during the first week of June. The nationally recognized Web site currently offers more than 750 articles on Alabama's culture, geography, natural environment and history. EOA was recently named a "Best of Free Reference" by Library Journal in its annual listing of quality print and online resources.

Senator Little Presents City of Opelika with $35,000 Grant

Senator Ted Little recently presented Mayor Gary Fuller and the City of Opelika with a check in the amount of $35,000 which he procured for the city from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). The grant money was presented to the city for the Sportsplex and Aquatic Center which is being built on Andrews Road.

Senator Little Presents $10,000 Grant Check to Envision Opelika

Recently, Senator Ted Little (D) met with Envision Opelika’s Chairman, Keith Pridgen, Executive Director Barbara Patton, and other members of Envision’s Board of Directors to present a Community Service Grant in the amount of $10,000.00. This grant is to further assist with the restoration project of the Miriam S. Brown School, which will become an area community cultural and conference center.

Opelika breaks ground on sportsplex

Community members and city leaders gather for the groundbreaking of the Opelika Sportsplex & Aquatic Center — a facility that will offer indoor programs and activities from aerobics to swimming. The more than 75,000-square-foot facility will include an adult activities center, swimming pool, two racquetball courts, two gyms, weight room, meeting rooms, mulitmedia room and walking track — all indoors.
