Ted Little

In Senate District 27 (Lee, Russell and Tallapoosa counties), economic development has been front and center, especially in the last three and a half years. Sen. Little's District 27 has seen the opening, relocation or expansion of 55 companies, representing in excess of 4,000 new jobs and investment of nearly $460 million.

With the Base Closing and Realignment (BRAC) initiative re-making Ft. Benning and the building of a new Kia automotive plant in West Point, Ga., the population of East Alabama is set to explode. Sen. Little has been able to develop working relationships with state and federal officials to help his district prepare for this rapid population rise.

Senate District 27's unemployment rate hovers around 5.2 percent, one of the very lowest Senate District rates in the entire state. This is a strong indicator of the economic development that is taking place in East Alabama.

Sen. Little has recently voted for numerous measures to encourage business development in Alabama, including granting film producers tax incentives, establishing an Alabama Tourism Development Finance Authority and working on legislation to create an Economic Center for Rural Alabama.

Sen. Little has been both an assistant professor of business and an adjunct professor of business at Auburn University, so he understands how business works and why business is important

Although he has a good record for supporting business, he has a better record for supporting the needs of his constituents, and that is most important of all.
