District 27, one of Alabama's 35 Senate districts, encompasses all of Tallapoosa County, the central portion of Lee County and the northern portion of Russell County. Parts of Lee County also fall within Districts 13 and 28, while the remainder of Russell County falls within District 28.
The combined Auburn-Opelika metropolitan area, with a population of some 120,000, is the largest city in the district. District 27 also includes Phenix City, Dadeville and Alexander City as well as many smaller communities.
